Wash the spaghetti squash
Pierce the squash several times with a fork or knife
Cut the squash in half lengthwise
Scoop out the seeds
Place the halves cut-side down in a microwave-safe dish
Add 2 to 4 tablespoons of water to the dish
Cover loosely with a microwave-safe lid or plastic wrap
Microwave on high for 8 to 12 minutes
Check for doneness with a fork
Microwave in 1- to 2-minute intervals until tender
Let the squash cool for a few minutes
Scrape the flesh with a fork to make strands
Season and serve
