Place the potatoes on a microwave-safe plate
Microwave on high for 5 minutes
Turn the potatoes over
Microwave on high for 3 to 5 more minutes
Check for doneness by inserting a fork
Microwave in 1-minute intervals if needed until tender
Let the potatoes rest for 2 minutes
Slice open and fluff the inside with a fork
Add toppings if desired
