Use a saline nasal spray or rinse
Inhale steam from a hot shower or bowl of hot water

Rest with your head elevated
Blow your nose gently
Apply a warm compress to your face
Take an over-the-counter decongestant if appropriate
Take an over-the-counter antihistamine if allergies are the cause
Avoid smoke, strong odors, and other irritants
Seek medical care if symptoms are severe, last more than 10 days, or include high fever or trouble breathing
