Identify the inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated item
Gather documents that support your dispute
File a dispute with the credit bureau reporting the error
Include your full name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number
Clearly state what information you are disputing and why
Attach copies of supporting documents, not originals
Send the dispute by certified mail or use the bureau’s online dispute system
Keep copies of everything you submit
