Measure the wall or ceiling area
Cut drywall sheets to fit
Mark and cut openings for outlets, switches, and fixtures
Install drywall sheets on studs or joists
Stagger seams between sheets
Leave a small gap at the floor
Fasten sheets with drywall screws
Sink screw heads slightly below the surface
Tape all seams and inside corners
Apply joint compound over tape and screw holes
Let compound dry
Apply additional coats of joint compound
Feather edges with each coat
Sand the dried compound smooth
Check for imperfections and fill as needed
Sand again if necessary
Clean dust from the surface
Prime the drywall
Paint or finish the wall or ceiling
