If there is no page number, use the author’s name only: (Smith)
For two authors, list both last names with “and”: (Smith and Jones 42)
For three or more authors, use the first author’s last name followed by “et al.”: (Smith et al. 42)
For a work with an organization as the author, use the organization name: (World Health Organization 12)
For multiple works by the same author in one list, include a shortened title in the citation: (Smith, *Article Title* 42)
If citing a source with no author, use a shortened title in place of the author: (“Article Title” 42)
For a direct quote, include the page number: (“Quote” 42)
For a block quote, include the page number in parentheses after the quote: (42)
For poetry plays or works with line numbers, use line numbers instead of page numbers: (Shakespeare 3.4.25)
For online sources with no page or line numbers, cite the author (or title) only: (Smith)
Use italics for titles in the in-text citation when using a title: (“Article Title”)
