How to Do Nipple Stimulation to Bring on Labor?

Ask your healthcare provider before trying nipple stimulation, especially if you are high-risk, have placenta previa, bleeding, preterm labor risk, or any pregnancy complications

Wash your hands and make sure your nails are short and clean

Use a breast pump or gently roll the nipple and areola between your fingers

Stimulate one nipple at a time

Start with 5 minutes of stimulation, then stop and wait 15 minutes

Repeat the cycle on the same side, then switch sides if advised

Stop immediately if contractions become very strong, very frequent, or painful

Stop if you notice vaginal bleeding, fluid leakage, decreased fetal movement, dizziness, or any concerning symptoms

Do not continue for long periods without breaks

Do not use nipple stimulation if your provider has told you not to induce labor

Monitor contractions closely and contact your healthcare provider if labor does not start or if contractions are irregular

Seek urgent medical care if you have severe pain, heavy bleeding, or reduced baby movement
