Gather materials: bow, arrows, nock, string, and a safe shooting area
Inspect the bow and string for damage or wear
Choose the correct arrow length, weight, and spine for the bow
Nock the arrow onto the bowstring correctly
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, angled slightly toward the target
Grip the bow firmly but not tensely
Place the bow hand so the bow is stable and the wrist stays relaxed
Set your stance: body facing the target, shoulders level
Draw the bowstring smoothly toward your face
Use consistent anchor points (e.g., same spot on cheek/jaw and same string contact)
Keep the bow arm locked or slightly bent and steady
Keep shoulders relaxed and level while drawing
Aim by aligning the arrow tip with the target
Release the string cleanly by opening your fingers without jerking
Hold your aim briefly after release (follow-through)
Walk to the target only when it is safe to do so
Re-check equipment and repeat with consistent form
