Choose vegetable-tanned leather

Cut leather to size

Dampen the leather evenly with clean water

Let the leather return to a cool, slightly damp state

Place the leather on a firm surface

Position the embossing stamp, tool, or pattern

Press or strike the tool firmly and evenly

Repeat the pattern as needed

Check the impression depth and alignment

Re-dampen lightly if the leather dries too much

Let the embossed leather dry completely

Apply leather finish, dye, or conditioner if desired
