Turn off the water supply to the tap
Open the tap to release any remaining water
Check the leak source at the spout, handle, packing nut, or pipe connection
Tighten the packing nut if the leak is around the handle
Replace the washer or cartridge inside the tap if the leak is from the spout
Replace worn O-rings or seals
Apply plumber’s tape to threaded connections
Tighten loose pipe fittings carefully
Inspect the hose washer and replace it if needed
Remove and clean any debris from the tap components
Reassemble the tap securely
Turn the water back on and test for leaks
Replace the entire tap if repairs do not stop the leak
Call a plumber if the pipe or wall connection is damaged
