Turn off the water supply to the faucet
Close the sink drain
Open the faucet to release remaining water
Remove the faucet handle
Remove the decorative cap if present
Unscrew and remove the retaining nut or cartridge clip
Pull out the cartridge, stem, or valve assembly
Inspect washers, O-rings, seals, and cartridges for wear or damage
Replace worn or damaged parts with matching new parts
Clean mineral buildup from faucet components
Reassemble the faucet in the reverse order
Tighten all parts securely
Turn the water supply back on
Test the faucet for leaks
Replace the entire faucet if repairs do not stop the leak
