How to Fix Rod Knock?

Stop driving the vehicle immediately

Check engine oil level

Change the oil and filter if oil is low, dirty, or contaminated

Inspect for oil leaks

Check oil pressure with a mechanical gauge

Inspect the oil pan for metal debris

Remove and inspect the rod bearings

Replace worn or damaged rod bearings

Inspect the connecting rods for damage or out-of-round condition

Replace damaged connecting rods

Inspect the crankshaft journals for scoring or wear

Machine or replace the crankshaft if damaged

Replace main bearings if needed

Clean oil passages thoroughly

Replace the oil pump if worn or failing

Reassemble with correct bearing clearances and torque specs

Refill with the correct oil grade and quantity

Prime the oil system before starting

Start and monitor for abnormal noise and oil pressure

Replace the engine if damage is severe or widespread
