Clean the analog stick and base with compressed air
Gently clean around the stick with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol
Move the stick in all directions while cleaning
Remove any debris, dust, or grime around the controller
Reset the controller by turning it off and on
Re-pair the controller to the Xbox
Update the controller firmware in Xbox Accessories
Replace the batteries or fully charge the controller
Test the controller on another Xbox or device
Lower the dead zone settings in game if available
Increase the dead zone settings in game if drift is minor
Check for worn or damaged thumbstick modules
Replace the analog stick module if cleaning does not help
Use a warranty or repair service if the controller is still covered
Replace the controller if the drift cannot be fixed
