Update the controller firmware in Xbox Accessories
Replace the batteries or fully charge the controller
Power cycle the Xbox console
Re-pair the controller to the console
Test the controller on another Xbox or PC
Clean the thumbsticks with compressed air
Move the thumbsticks through full circles to clear debris
Check and lower in-game dead zone settings
Reset controller calibration in the game, if available
Remove any thumbstick grips or attachments
Try a different USB cable or wired connection

Replace worn analog stick modules
