Back up any important data on the SSD
Open Disk Management on Windows or Disk Utility on Mac
Select the SSD from the drive list
Delete existing partitions if needed
Create a new partition or volume
Choose the file system format
Windows: select NTFS, exFAT, or FAT32
Mac: select APFS or Mac OS Extended
Enter a drive name if prompted
Start the format process
Confirm any warning prompts
Wait for formatting to complete
Safely eject or close the tool when finished
