How to Install SSD to Desktop?

Power off the desktop and unplug the power cable

Press the power button for a few seconds to discharge residual power

Open the computer case

Ground yourself to prevent static damage

Locate an available SSD mounting bay or drive bracket

Mount the SSD into the bay using screws or a tray

Connect a SATA data cable from the SSD to a motherboard SATA port if using a SATA SSD

Connect a SATA power cable from the power supply to the SSD if using a SATA SSD

Install the SSD into an M.2 slot and secure it with the mounting screw if using an M.2 SSD

Close the computer case

Reconnect the power cable and turn on the desktop

Enter BIOS or UEFI to confirm the SSD is detected

Initialize, partition, and format the SSD in the operating system if needed

Install the operating system or move files to the SSD if desired
