How to Wipe an SSD?

Back up any data you want to keep

Check whether the SSD is the system drive or a secondary drive

Use the manufacturer’s secure erase tool if available

Boot into the tool or recovery environment if required

Select the SSD and run Secure Erase or Sanitize

If using Windows, use the drive manufacturer utility or BIOS/UEFI secure erase option

If using macOS, use Disk Utility erase for the SSD

If using Linux, use the drive’s ATA Secure Erase or NVMe Format/Sanitize command

Confirm the erase operation completes successfully

Reinstall the operating system if the SSD was the boot drive

Verify the drive is empty and ready for reuse
