Let the garment air out completely
Sprinkle baking soda, cornstarch, or kitty litter on the stained area
Let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes
Shake or brush off the powder
Pre-treat the stain with liquid laundry detergent or dish soap
Gently rub the fabric together or use a soft brush
Wash the clothing separately in the hottest water safe for the fabric
Use extra detergent if needed
Check for odor and stain before drying
Repeat the wash if gasoline smell remains
Air dry the clothing until the smell is completely gone
Do not put gasoline-soaked clothing in the dryer
Do not wash gasoline-soaked clothing with other laundry
If the odor is strong, soak the item in a mix of water and baking soda before washing
If the item is dry-clean-only, take it to a professional cleaner and mention the gasoline exposure
