Blot the ink immediately with a clean white cloth or paper towel
Rinse the back of the fabric with cool water to push ink out of the fibers
Check the care label for safe cleaning methods (water-safe vs dry-clean only)
Place a clean white cloth or paper towel under the stain to prevent spreading
For water-based ink: dab with rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) using a cotton swab, then blot; repeat until no ink transfers
For ballpoint/most permanent inks: dab with rubbing alcohol, then blot; repeat
If rubbing alcohol isn’t effective: apply a small amount of dish soap to the stained area, gently work in, then rinse with cool water and blot
For stubborn stains: use a commercial stain remover labeled for ink, following the package directions
Do not use hot water until the stain is fully gone
After treatment, wash the dress according to the care label
Air-dry the dress (do not use a dryer) until the stain is completely removed
If the fabric is dry-clean only: blot, then take to a professional cleaner and point out the ink stain
Test any cleaner (rubbing alcohol or stain remover) on an inside seam or hidden area first
Avoid rubbing aggressively, which can spread the ink and set it deeper
