Blow your nose gently and often
Use saline nasal spray or saline rinse
Drink plenty of fluids
Inhale steam from a hot shower
Use a humidifier
Rest as much as possible
Take an over-the-counter antihistamine if allergies are the cause
Take an over-the-counter decongestant if appropriate for you
Avoid smoke, strong odors, and other irritants
Keep your head elevated
Use a warm compress over your nose and sinuses
Try honey or warm tea if your throat is also irritated
See a doctor if symptoms are severe, last more than 10 days, or come with fever, facial pain, or trouble breathing
