Let the top 1–2 inches of soil dry out between waterings
Remove standing water from saucers and trays
Bottom-water plants when possible
Replace or refresh the top layer of potting soil
Repot heavily infested plants with fresh sterile soil
Remove decaying leaves, stems, and debris from the soil surface
Use yellow sticky traps near affected plants
Apply mosquito dunks or bits to the soil watering routine
Use beneficial nematodes in the soil
Use a hydrogen peroxide and water soil drench if appropriate for the plant
Cover the soil surface with sand, diatomaceous earth, or fine gravel
Quarantine infested plants away from healthy plants
Inspect new plants before bringing them indoors
Avoid overwatering
Empty and clean drip trays, cachepots, and nearby containers regularly
