Tilt your head to the side and gently tug on your earlobe
Lie on your side with the affected ear facing down
Shake your head gently
Create a vacuum by cupping your palm tightly over the ear and releasing it
Chew, yawn, or move your jaw
Use gravity by hopping on one foot with the ear tilted downward
Dry the outer ear with a towel
Use a hair dryer on the lowest heat and speed, held at a safe distance
Use over-the-counter drying ear drops if appropriate
Avoid inserting cotton swabs, fingers, or other objects into the ear
Seek medical care if pain, drainage, hearing loss, or persistent water remains
