Tilt your head toward the affected ear and gently pull the earlobe in different directions
Lie on your side with the affected ear facing down for a few minutes
Gently shake your head to help the water drain out
Create a vacuum by cupping your hand tightly over the ear and releasing it
Use gravity by jumping lightly on one foot with the affected ear tilted downward
Dry the outer ear with a clean towel
Use a hair dryer on the lowest setting, held at a safe distance, to help evaporate moisture
Try swallowing, yawning, or chewing gum to open the ear canal
Use over-the-counter drying ear drops if you do not have a perforated eardrum, ear tubes, or ear infection
Avoid inserting cotton swabs, fingers, or other objects into the ear
Seek medical help if pain, hearing loss, dizziness, discharge, or persistent water remains in the ear
