Freeze the jar for a few hours
Pry out the hardened wax with a butter knife or spoon
Pour hot water into the jar and let the wax float to the top
Let the water cool, then remove the wax disc
Place the jar in warm water to soften the wax
Wipe out softened wax with paper towels
Use a hair dryer to melt leftover wax and wipe it away
Scrape out remaining residue with a plastic scraper
Wash the jar with hot soapy water
Remove the wick base with pliers if needed
