Gather all supplies before starting: baby tub, warm water, mild baby soap, washcloth, towel, clean diaper, and clothes
Wash your hands
Make sure the room is warm and free of drafts
Fill the tub with a few inches of warm water
Check the water temperature with your wrist or elbow; it should feel warm, not hot
Keep one hand on the baby at all times
Support the baby’s head and neck securely
Start by cleaning the face with plain water and a soft washcloth
Wash the body gently from top to bottom
Clean the diaper area last
Use a small amount of mild baby soap if needed
Rinse the baby carefully
Keep the bath short
Lift the baby out slowly and securely
Wrap the baby in a towel right away and pat dry
Dry skin folds carefully
Put on a clean diaper and clothes
Never leave the baby unattended in water
Avoid bathing the baby too often if the skin becomes dry
