Feed the baby regularly, since breast milk or formula helps stimulate bowel movements
Burp the baby during and after feeds
Move the baby’s legs in a gentle bicycle motion
Gently massage the baby’s belly in a clockwise direction
Give the baby supervised tummy time when awake
Keep the baby warm and comfortable
Check that formula is mixed correctly if bottle-feeding
Watch for signs of constipation, such as hard stools or discomfort
Contact a pediatrician if the baby has not pooped for several days, seems in pain, or has a swollen belly
Seek medical help right away if the baby vomits, has blood in the stool, or is not feeding well
