Blow your nose gently
Use saline nasal spray or rinse
Inhale steam from a warm shower
Drink plenty of fluids
Use a humidifier
Sleep with your head elevated
Avoid smoke and strong odors
Try a warm compress over the nose and face
Rest as much as possible
Use over-the-counter decongestants if appropriate
Use antihistamines if allergies are the cause
Seek medical care if symptoms are severe, long-lasting, or include fever, facial pain, or trouble breathing
