Open the Pages document
Select the text you want to highlight
Click the Format button in the toolbar
Open the Text tab
Click the Text Color or Highlight option if available
Choose a highlight color
If no highlight option appears, use the Shapes or Drawing tools to add a colored shape behind the text
Adjust the shape’s size and position to cover the text
Send the shape behind the text if needed
Save the document
