Turn off power to the cooking area at the breaker
Read the manufacturer’s installation instructions
Measure and mark the hood location above the cooktop
Locate wall studs or ceiling joists
Check for and mark vent path, electrical access, and clearance requirements
Cut any needed opening for ductwork
Install the mounting bracket or support frame
Drill pilot holes for fasteners
Secure the hood or hood body to the wall or cabinet
Connect the ductwork to the hood outlet
Seal duct joints with foil tape
Route and connect the electrical wiring according to code
Install the blower, filters, and any accessories
Tighten all fasteners and verify the hood is level
Restore power and test the fan and lights
Check for vibration, air leaks, and proper airflow
