Measure the window width and desired curtain length
Decide mounting style: inside mount (within the window frame) or outside mount (on the wall/trim)
Choose rod length (inside mount: window width; outside mount: add extra width for full coverage when curtains are open)
Mark bracket locations using a level and measuring tape
Check for studs behind the wall; mark stud centers if available
If mounting into drywall without studs, locate anchors rated for the rod and curtain weight
Install wall anchors if using them (drill pilot holes first)
Position each bracket at the marked location
Secure brackets with screws (use the correct screw length for studs/anchors)
If using a ceiling mount, mark locations for ceiling brackets and secure the same way
Assemble the rod (attach end caps and any center support if included)
Slide curtain rings/eyelets onto the rod if needed
Insert rod into brackets
If the rod has set screws, tighten them to secure the rod in the brackets
Set the rod height so the top of the curtains sits at the desired position
Verify the rod is level and adjust bracket placement if necessary
Test curtain movement and ensure brackets and hardware hold the curtain weight
