How to Put Up Wallpaper?

Gather wallpaper, paste or adhesive, smoothing tool, utility knife, tape measure, level, pencil, sponge, and ladder

Turn off power and remove outlet covers and switch plates

Clean the wall and let it dry completely

Repair holes, cracks, and uneven areas

Sand smooth and wipe away dust

Prime the wall if needed

Measure the wall height and cut wallpaper strips with extra length

Mark a straight vertical starting line with a level

Mix paste if required, or prepare pre-pasted wallpaper

Apply paste to the wall or wallpaper as directed

Hang the first strip along the marked line

Smooth from the center outward to remove bubbles and wrinkles

Match the next strip to the first and align the pattern

Butt seams together without overlapping unless the wallpaper type requires it

Trim excess at the top and bottom with a sharp knife

Wipe off excess paste with a damp sponge

Repeat for all remaining strips

Reinstall outlet covers and switch plates after the wallpaper dries

Inspect seams and edges and press down any loose areas

Let the wallpaper dry fully before moving furniture back
