Score paint and caulk along the interior and exterior edges
Remove the interior stop molding or trim
Remove sash weights, springs, or hardware if present
Lift out the movable sash or sashes
Cut through any remaining sealant or fasteners
Pry the window frame loose from the opening
Remove the frame carefully from the wall
Clean the opening of nails, caulk, and debris
Inspect the rough opening for damage or rot
Dispose of the removed window safely
