Plan the pot light locations
Check for joists, pipes, and wiring in the ceiling
Mark the cutout locations
Choose IC-rated, dimmable fixtures if needed
Select the correct bulb type and trim style
Cut the ceiling openings with the template
Run electrical cable to each light location
Install junction boxes as required
Connect the wiring according to the fixture instructions
Secure the fixtures in the ceiling
Insert the pot lights into the openings
Install bulbs and trims
Restore power at the breaker
Test each light and dimmer function
Patch and paint any ceiling damage if needed
