Turn off the main water supply
Open faucets to relieve water pressure
Choose the installation location near the main water line and a drain
Shut off power to any nearby electrical components if needed
Cut into the main water line
Install the bypass valve on the softener
Connect the inlet and outlet pipes to the bypass valve
Use fittings and pipe sealant as required
Connect the drain line to an approved drain point
Connect the overflow line if the unit has one
Add the brine tank and fill it with the recommended salt
Plug in the water softener if it requires electricity
Set the time, hardness level, and regeneration settings
Slowly turn the water supply back on
Check all connections for leaks
Flush the system according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Test the softened water to confirm proper operation
