See a doctor if you have symptoms that come and go, especially numbness, tingling, weakness, vision changes, balance problems, or fatigue
Ask for a neurological exam
Ask whether your symptoms could fit multiple sclerosis
Get an MRI of the brain and spinal cord if recommended
Ask about a lumbar puncture if recommended
Ask about blood tests to rule out other conditions
Report any episodes of blurred vision, double vision, or pain with eye movement
Report any unexplained muscle weakness or stiffness
Report any trouble walking, dizziness, or coordination problems
Report any bladder, bowel, or sexual function changes
Keep track of when symptoms started and how long they lasted
Note whether symptoms improved and then returned
Ask for a referral to a neurologist
Do not self-diagnose based on symptoms alone
Seek urgent care if you have sudden vision loss, severe weakness, or trouble speaking
