Plan the layout and measure the area
Mark the paver area with stakes and string
Call utility locating services before digging
Excavate the area to the required depth
Compact the subgrade
Install and compact a base layer of crushed stone
Add and level a bedding layer of sand
Screed the sand smooth and level
Lay pavers in the desired pattern
Cut pavers to fit edges and corners
Install edge restraints
Spread joint sand over the pavers
Sweep sand into the joints
Compact the pavers to settle them
Add more joint sand and repeat until joints are full
Clean the surface
Check for level and proper drainage
