Use a bound notebook or a secure digital lab notebook

Write your name, project title, and contact information on the cover or first page

Date every entry

Record entries in chronological order

Use permanent ink if writing by hand

Write legibly and clearly

List materials, reagents, tools, and equipment used

Write exact procedures followed

Document measurements, observations, and results
