Gather a convex lens
Get a cardboard tube or two small tubes that can slide inside each other
Cut a small hole in one end of the outer tube
Fix the lens over the hole
Place the object to be viewed near the lens
Slide the inner tube to adjust focus
Add a light source below or beside the object
Secure the parts with tape or glue
Use a second lens for higher magnification if needed
Mount the setup on a stable base
