How To Make Candles?

Choose candle type (container or pillar) and desired wax (soy, beeswax, paraffin, or palm)

Gather supplies: wax, fragrance oil (optional), candle-safe dye (optional), wick(s), wick tabs/stickers, thermometer, pouring pitcher, heat-safe container(s), double boiler or melting pot, stirring utensil, scale, scissors or wick trimmer, paper towels

Determine batch size (measure wax by weight)

Prepare molds/containers (clean and dry)

Secure wicks in each container using wick tabs/stickers or wick centering device

Pre-melt wax using a double boiler (keep water from touching wax)

Heat wax to the recommended melting range for your wax type

Remove from heat and cool slightly to the recommended pour temperature for your wax

Add fragrance oil if using (typical ranges: 3–10% by weight; follow your oil’s instructions)

Add dye if using (typical ranges vary; follow dye instructions)

Stir gently and thoroughly to distribute fragrance and color

Pour wax slowly into containers or molds

Leave a small headspace at the top of containers if needed

Let candles cool undisturbed until fully solid

Once set, trim wicks to about 1/4 inch (6 mm)

Cure candles (container candles often cure 1–2 weeks; follow wax/fragrance guidance)

Test burn and adjust wick size if needed for optimal flame and pool behavior
