2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 to 1 1/2 cups water
Food coloring, optional
Mix the flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a bowl
Add the vegetable oil and water
Stir until combined
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture forms a dough
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly
Knead the dough until smooth
Add food coloring if desired and knead until evenly mixed
Store in an airtight container
