Gather calcium carbonate powder
Add a small amount of water
Mix until a thick paste forms
Add plaster of Paris if a harder chalk is desired
Stir until smooth and lump-free
Pour the mixture into chalk molds or paper tubes
Tap the molds gently to remove air bubbles
Let the chalk dry for 24 to 48 hours
Remove the chalk from the molds
Allow it to cure fully before use
