Gather fabric, elastic, scissors, needle and thread or fabric glue, and a measuring tape
Measure the head circumference
Cut a fabric strip to the desired length and width
Fold the strip lengthwise with the right sides facing in
Sew or glue along the long edge to form a tube
Turn the tube right side out
Insert elastic into one end of the tube
Secure the elastic at both ends
Join the two short ends of the fabric strip
Sew or glue the seam closed
Adjust the headband for fit
Decorate if desired
