How To Make Chestnuts?

Choose fresh chestnuts with shiny shells and no cracks or mold

Rinse the chestnuts and pat them dry

Cut a shallow X on the flat side of each chestnut

Soak the chestnuts in warm water for 20 to 30 minutes if desired

Preheat the oven to 425°F

Place the chestnuts on a baking sheet with the cut side up

Roast for 20 to 25 minutes until the shells peel back

Remove from the oven and cover with a towel for 5 to 10 minutes

Peel the shells and inner skins while still warm

Serve warm or use in recipes
