Gather chicken broth, cooked chicken, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, salt, black pepper, and optional noodles or rice
Heat a pot over medium heat
Add a little oil or butter if desired
Sauté onion, garlic, carrots, and celery until slightly softened
Pour in the chicken broth
Bring the broth to a boil
Reduce the heat to a simmer
Add cooked chicken
Add salt and black pepper
Add noodles or rice if using
Simmer until vegetables and noodles or rice are tender
Taste and adjust seasoning
Serve hot
