Pat the cod dry with paper towels
Season with salt and pepper
Add optional seasonings such as garlic, paprika, lemon zest, or herbs
Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat
Place the cod in the skillet
Cook for 3 to 5 minutes per side until opaque and flaky
Alternatively, bake at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes
Check that the internal temperature reaches 145°F
Serve with lemon wedges or your preferred side dishes
