Choose fresh, ripe lemons
Roll the lemons firmly on a counter to release more juice
Cut the lemons in half
Squeeze out the juice
Remove seeds and pulp if desired
Mix lemon juice with cold water
Add sugar or another sweetener to taste
Stir until the sweetener dissolves completely
Taste and adjust the sweetness or tartness
Add ice
Chill before serving
Garnish with lemon slices if desired
