Gather fresh peppermint leaves or dried peppermint
Rinse fresh leaves and pat them dry
Lightly bruise the leaves to release oils
Fill a clean glass jar with the peppermint leaves
Pour vodka or another neutral high-proof alcohol over the leaves until fully covered
Seal the jar tightly
Store the jar in a cool, dark place
Shake the jar gently every few days
Let it steep for 4 to 6 weeks
Strain out the leaves using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
Pour the liquid into a clean bottle
Label the bottle and store it in a cool, dark place
