How To Make Rice Pilaf?

Rinse 1 cup long-grain rice until the water runs clear

Heat 2 tablespoons butter or oil in a saucepan over medium heat

Add 1 small chopped onion and cook until softened

Add 1 cup rice and stir for 1 to 2 minutes until lightly toasted

Add 2 cups broth, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and optional pepper

Bring to a boil

Reduce heat to low and cover

Simmer for 15 to 18 minutes until the liquid is absorbed

Remove from heat and let stand covered for 5 minutes

Fluff with a fork

Stir in optional herbs, toasted nuts, or cooked vegetables
