Apply a cold compress to the swollen area for 10–15 minutes at a time
Keep your head elevated, especially when lying down
Drink plenty of water
Reduce salt intake
Avoid alcohol
Avoid rubbing or massaging the face
Use an over-the-counter antihistamine if swelling is from allergies and you can take it safely
Use an over-the-counter pain reliever if needed and safe for you
Remove any makeup or skincare products that may be irritating the skin
Avoid foods or substances that trigger your swelling
Get medical help right away if swelling is sudden, severe, or affects breathing, swallowing, or vision
See a doctor if swelling lasts more than a few days or keeps coming back
