Stir in 1 can tomato paste
Add 1 1/2 cups water
Whisk until smooth
Add 1 teaspoon salt
Add 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Add 1 teaspoon sugar
Add 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Add 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
Adjust thickness with more water if needed
Adjust seasoning to taste
Use immediately or cool and store in an airtight container
